FURLONG, PENNSYLVANIA - Helen Burak Rockafellow, longtime resident of the rural Forest Grove Community, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at the age of 87.
Born in Solebury Township, the youngest of five children, she was the daughter of Elias and Mary (Nawrock) Burak. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, W. Earl Rockafellow; her sisters, Anna (Brambley) and Jenny (Mills); and her brothers Andy and Harry Burak.
She was the loving mother of William (Karen), James (Mindy), John, and George (Betsy); grandmother to Scott, Kelly, Jimmy, Erin, Laura, John Benjamin, Alyssa, and Ben; and great grandmother of Abbie.
Helen graduated from Buckingham High School in 1942. She was an active lifetime member of the Tyro Hall Grange. She worked as a clerk in the Bucks County Treasurers Office. At one time she was a secretary for the Buckingham Tax Collector; she then won the election for Buckingham Tax Collector, serving two terms before her retirement.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She always referred to herself as a farm wife. She was born and raised on a farm; married a farmer; and raised her children on a farm, where she continued to reside for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed gardening, homemaking, and spending time with her family.
A service will be held at the Forest Grove Presbyterian Church, 1856 Forest Grove Road, Furlong, PA 18922 on Saturday, November 19th at 11 am. The family will receive their friends from 10-11 am prior to the service.
Interment will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery, Furlong, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helen's name to the Forest Grove Presbyterian Church.
