Obituary for James S. DiRoberto

DOYLESTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA - James S. DiRoberto of Doylestown, PA passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014.

Affectionately known to most as Jim, he was born in Bellefonte, PA and was a long time resident of Doylestown, PA.

Jim graduated from Central Bucks East High School where he excelled in football and ice hockey. He also graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. He worked as a Probation Officer with Luzerne and Bucks Counties. Jim later pursued a career in home improvements where he was a skilled craftsman specializing in painting, renovations, landscaping and general construction. He took exceptional pride in his work, paying attention to every detail.

Jim had a strong passion for sports. He was a fan of all Philadelphia professional sports, but is remembered most for his love and commitment to Penn State Athletics. Jim s most desired passion was for Penn State football. He enjoyed fall afternoons watching his alma mater on the gridiron, and often travelled to University Park to cheer on his team and spend time at the weekly family tailgate. He loved his nieces and nephews unconditionally, and took great pride in their accomplishments on the playing fields, dance floor and in the classroom.

Jim s strongest quality was his ability to form strong relationships with his closest friends and family members. He was a charismatic story teller that could capture the attention of any crowd. His unique personality and witty humor touched all. Jim had the remarkable ability to make you feel at ease even when faced with life s biggest challenges.

Jim is the cherished son of Velma (Bertocci) DiRoberto and the late Samuel DiRoberto, dear brother of Michael DiRoberto, Dave DiRoberto and wife Kimberly, loving uncle of Daniel, Samuel, John Michael, Natalie and Justin DiRoberto, also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Memorial and cremation services will be private under the direction of the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.

Contributions may be made in Jim 's memory to the Samuel DiRoberto Scholarship Fund, Penn State Abington, Office of Development and Alumni Relations, 1600 Woodland Road, Abington, PA 19001.
