NEW BRITAIN, PENNSYLVANIA - Dr. Barry G. Ginsberg of New Britain, PA passed away in Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, PA on Monday, October 26, 2015. He was 79.
Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Elias and Leah Schwartz Ginsberg, Barry resided in New Britain, PA with his family since 1971.
He received a degree in Pharmacology from Columbia University of New York, a Master s Degree in Education from City College of New York and a PhD in Psychology from Penn State University. One of the highlights of his personal and professional career was receiving the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce 2015 Lifetime Achievement Humanitarian award.
Dr. Ginsberg was a self-employed family psychologist in the Doylestown area since 1976. He was a well known psychologist and author and highly regarded by his colleagues, students and clients. He had a passion for being deeply connected to his Doylestown community and got enjoyment out of all he contributed. Dr. Ginsberg had a voracious appetite for knowledge, and his curiosity was expansive and limitless. He was an exemplary model for his grandchildren, who adored him and who consider themselves to be so fortunate for his presence in their lives. Barry was beloved by so many and appreciated for all he has done. His influence on the many people he has touched with his warm and wise counsel will be felt for many years to come.
Dr. Ginsberg was a longtime member of the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bucks County, where he held several positions for both organizations. He was a member of Temple Judea for more than 30 years. He enjoyed playing racquetball, engaging with the world, reading the NY Times and Wall Street Journal, and was a political junkie.
He was the beloved husband of 53 years to Mindi (Silverberg) Ginsberg, devoted father of Joshua Ginsberg and wife Karen, Daniel Ginsberg and wife Lisa, Jeremy Ginsberg and wife Dr. Pamela Ginsberg, and loving grandfather of Rachel, Jordan, Michael and Benjamin.
A service will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901on Thursday, October 29th at 12:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am -12:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
A dear family friend, Rabbi Adam Fisher, will officiate the service.
Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery, Doylestown, PA.
