DOYLESTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA - Virginia (Jinny) Miller, a resident of Pine Run in Doylestown, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 of natural causes. She was 93.
Jinny was born on October 21, 1922 in Trenton, NJ, the daughter of the late Arthur Howard Miller and Helen Theresa Bradley of New Hope, Pennsylvania.
A life-long resident of New Hope, Jinny was valedictorian of the class of 1940 of New Hope-Solebury High School. On August 17, 1944, she became a registered nurse, receiving her diploma from Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing. During her tenure at Misericordia Hospital, she went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania in 1964 and her certificate in Nursing Supervision from Drexel Institute of Technology in 1965. Jinny’s talents were utilized throughout the hospital. As head nurse of the special care unit, she was known as an efficient manager and fair supervisor of the student nurses. She was known by the physicians in the cardiac catheterization unit as being the nurse who “made it all work”. She was respected by all as a caring, compassionate, competent care giver in the recovery room. Those who knew Jinny best will also remember her wry sense of humor, her love of dogs, her oil paintings of the New Hope area, and her beautiful hand stitched quilts.
Jinny is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Richard Leon Miller (d 1999), sister-in-law Emma Jane Miller, all formerly of New Hope, PA. She is survived by her niece, Holly Miller of Carnation, WA, and several cousins, including Elizabeth and Clifford Funk of New Hope, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin of Tours Church, 1 Riverstone Circle, New Hope, PA 18938 on Monday, January 11th at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am prior to mass.
Interment will follow in St. Martin of Tours Cemetery, New Hope, PA.
