Obituary for Helena Zalewski

Helena Zalewski (nee Lewandowski) of Jamison, PA passed away at her residence on Saturday, May 20, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old.

Born in Korostyshiv, Ukraine to the late Stanislaw and Antonina (Pochylska) Lewandowski, she resided in Richboro, PA for 33 years before moving to Jamison, PA in 2021.

Helena worked in administration at Farm Journal Publishing House and Strawbridge & Clothier, both in Philadelphia, PA, before taking time off to raise her children. In 1980, she returned to administration, assisting her husband with Ampol Tool & Machine Company of Trevose, PA. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church of Richboro, PA and attended service at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa.

As a young child, Helena developed a love of music. Throughout her life, she enjoyed attending classical music concerts, choral shows, and joined the Paderewski Choir in Philadelphia. She also loved reading. Her collection included classic books and novels from Poland as well as other countries. She loved cooking and was always trying new recipes as well as traditional Polish meals.

She was the beloved wife of 59 years to Mieczyslaw Zalewski; devoted mother of Ursula (Stephen) Raczak, and Ed (Donna) Zalewski; dear sister of the late Edward (Jadwiga) Lewandowski, Tony (Janine) Lewandowski and Peter (Nina) Lewandowski; step daughter of the late Petro Lewandowski and loving grandmother of Matthew, Michael, Garritt and Nathaniel.

A viewing will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 10:30-11:30 am. A funeral mass will follow at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery Chapel, 654 Ferry Road, Doylestown, PA 18901 at 12:30 pm.

Interment will follow in the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery.
