Obituary for John P. McGowan Sr.
John P. McGowan, Sr. (Moe). Beloved husband of Barbara McGowan (nee Wiktorski) passed away peacefully at his home in Doylestown, PA on Sunday, February 12, 2023. He was 85.
Born in Philadelphia (Kensington) to the late Marie C. McGowan (nee Haney) and Thomas A. McGowan. He was preceded in death by his sons Thomas and Michael. He is survived by sons John Jr., Patrick and wife Jane, and Terence. Special grandfather to Terence Jr., wife Bethany and great-grandson Terence III, and granddaughter Meghan.
He graduated from North Catholic High School in 1955. John was a Carpenter by trade and proud owner of John P. McGowan Contracting Co. He was a former member of Carpenter’s Union Local 1856, Rotary Club and North Catholic Alumni Association.
John was preceded in death by brother Thomas and sisters Marie, Patricia (Souther), Catherine (Nay) and Geraldine (Costello). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and family relatives.
The family will receive their friends at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Saturday, March 4th from 9:00-10:00 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m.
