Obituary for Robert J. Williams

Robert J. Williams, of Doylestown, passed away peacefully at home on February 8, 2023 at the age of 84. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 67 years, Nancy; children, Debra Williams, Diane Stenken, Donna (Lale) Byers, and Barbra Williams; grandchildren, Nicole (Jeff) Piazza, Robert Stenken, and Madeline Stenken; great granddaughter, Alexandra Piazza; step-granddaughter Lynn Byers; and brother-in-law, Burton Price; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A longtime resident of Doylestown, Bob was first and foremost a kind, proud man who always made certain his family knew they were nothing less than the center of his world. Raised in Ringtown, PA Bob came from humble beginnings doing jobs that ranged from grave digging, manufacturing toolboxes for the military to cutting lawns. It was on one of these lawn jobs that Bob’s steadfast work ethic impressed a former Intelligencer publisher who sent him to “the paper” to see about a job. This was the beginning of a 40-year career with The Intelligencer during exciting times of change and growth. Bob retired from his position as Composing Superintendent at age 66.

Bob was a self-taught handyman extraordinaire and could fix or build just about anything. He was truly the neighbor you wanted to live next door. Bob was known for his prized vegetable and flower gardens, and his wide array of interests that led him to many hobbies, including photography, computers, building a four-season greenhouse, and making home-made wine. Bob most enjoyed family gatherings, taking country drives with Nancy and memorable road trips out West and family trips to Walt Disney World. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart or Alzheimer’s Association(s) in his name.
