Sharon Melva (Van Lenten) Fleck

Sharon, a Polio Survivor, resided in N.J. most of her life. She attended William Paterson State College-North Haledon, NJ, dual majoring in Art Education, Childhood Disabilities & Psychology.

Throughout her lifetime, Sharon was an accomplished artist, winning numerous art awards, but her greatest joy was teaching.

Sharon married William J. Fleck at the Preakness Reformed Church, Wayne, N.J., July 17,1965. Wanting a rural lifestyle, they settled on Lake Riconda in Ringwood, N.J., in 1968. Kimberly Elaine was born in 1966; followed by William Peter in 1969, & Kenneth Joseph in 1970. The family was very active in the community and lived a wonderful life at the Lake for 48 years. Sharon and Bill finally retired to Staunton, V.A., in 2011 and had recently moved to Warminster, P.A. in October of this year.

Sharon had a deep love and respect for the mountains and wildlife and was an accomplished horsewoman as well.

Sharon was also proud to be a longtime member of the Stonetown FD (Ringwood Volunteer Fire Co. #1) Ladies Aux.; served several terms as President of the Lake Riconda Assoc.; member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 222, Hawthorne, NJ; and active member of the Staunton Senior Citizen's, Staunton, V.A.

Throughout her life, Sharon maintained her most meaningful & most valued accomplishment was raising her loving family & the respect & love of forever friends.

Sharon was predeceased by her beloved twin grandson, Shayne Joseph Fleck in 2002, son of Caitlin and Kenneth Fleck; her mother, Melva Lillian (Manger) Van Lenten in 1980; and her father, Lorenzo Van Lenten in 2001.

She is survived by her treasured family, husband of 57 years, William J. Fleck; a daughter, Kimberly Elaine Brown (Robert); son William Peter Fleck (Christine); and son, Kenneth Joseph Fleck (Caitlin); as well as 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by a sister, Renee Evelyn (Van Lenten) Ruggiero, husband Michael of SC; and brother, Lance Peter Van Lenten, wife Kris of MA; as well as several cousins, nieces & nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later time to be announced by the family.
