Obituary for Maria M. Tielman

The angels came for Maria Tielman on Saturday, September 10, 2022 after her brave battle with dementia. She was 97.

Born in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, Maria emmigrated with her husband in 1960 to the USA, Bucks County PA sponsored by the Buckingham Meeting of Friends after living through the Great Depression, Nazi occupation, and later American liberation. Maria, passing on her Dutch heritage, decorated her home with windmills, wooden shoes, and delft blue plates. Maria, a highly skilled seamstress, supported dry cleaning establishments, department stores, and local neighbors out of her home while raising her two children.

Maria was pre-deceased by her husband Emile in 1998. After retirement, their preference for warmer climate brought them to FL in 1983 until her husband’s passing in 1998. Maria’s love for family brought her back to Bucks County in 2000.

Maria’s love for reading, the Catholic Church, and her Dutch heritage was bestowed upon to those whom loved her. She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church of Warrington.

Maria is survived by son Menno (Debra) of Manasquan (NJ), daughter Ria of Warrington, PA; step granddaughter Kimberly (Kevin); step granddaughter Stephanie (Sean) and three step great grandchildren Grant, Samantha, Seanna; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Avenue, Warrington, PA 18976 on Saturday, Sept 17, 2022 from 9:45 am until the funeral mass at 11:00 am .

Interment will be held at a later date at St Joseph’s Cemetery, Palm Bay, FL next to her beloved husband.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to St. Joseph/St. Robert School, 850 Euclid Avenue, Warrington, PA 18976 would be appreciated.
