Obituary for Joseph P. Cherone

Joseph P. Cherone of Doylestown, PA passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022 in the Pine Run Health Center, Doylestown, PA. He was 74.

Joe suffered a massive stroke on 4/3/22. For the past 11 weeks, he endured the many indignities that come as a result of that injury to his brain. Joe maintained a sense of humor, persevered, worked hard and tried to get better. He wanted things to go back to the way they were, pre-stroke. So did we. When it became apparent that getting better was just not going to happen, he chose to go on hospice. He died with comfort and peace and surrounded by love. While the dash, the time lived between birth and death, is important, for those who can make end of life decisions, the way they die can be just as important.

Born in Hershey, PA to the late Anthony and Elvira (Seaberg) Cherone, Joe was a resident of Doylestown, PA.
He was formerly employed as an Electrical Engineer with several Engineering Firms in Philadelphia. Joe retired from Jacobs Engineers in 2014. Joe was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church of Doylestown, PA. Joe was an avid cyclist and a long time member of the Central Bucks Bike Club. Joe volunteered at Habitat for Humanity for many years.

He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Walla) Cherone and would have celebrated their 49th anniversary on June 30th; devoted father of Joseph Carl Cherone (Alison), Jeremy Tyler Cherone (Laura); loving grandfather of Jesse Tyler , Jack Flanagan, Samuel Bear, Julia Harper, and Logan; dear brother of Mary Ann Renza, Russell Cherone (Lori); cherished brother-in-law of Steven Walla (Linda), John Walla (Tammy), Mary Jo Walla, and Kathleen Long; former father-in-law of Jennifer Cherone.

A memorial gathering will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 9:30-10:30 am, with a funeral mass to begin at 10:30 am.

Cremation services were private.

No flowers or Charitable Contributions, just please slow down and share the road with a cyclist, with a smile on your face and a warm thought of Joe!!!
