Obituary for Robert M. Hunley, Jr.

Robert M. Hunley Jr. of Springfield Township, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 20, 2022 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was 65 years old.

Born on November 11, 1956 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Robert M. Hunley Sr. and Dolores (Gabriel) Hunley, he lived in Bucks and Northampton counties throughout most of his life and relocated to North Carolina for 18 years before returning to Bucks County in 2020.

Bob graduated from Palisades High School in 1975. During his senior year he enlisted in the US Marine Corps where he served just under one year before being honorably discharged due to a health condition. Growing up he was an avid sports fan. Coached by his father, he played little-league baseball throughout his childhood and even on some men’s teams with his father at the young age of 13. In junior and senior high school, he played baseball, football and wrestled for the Palisades Pirates teams. Over the years he coached little league, most recently with the Silver Creek Athletic Association and was fondly known as “Coach Bob”.

He enjoyed fishing, collecting guns and target shooting. Bob was an automobile enthusiast, liked going to car shows and loved collecting model cars. He was an American Patriot and instilled his love of American history in his children and grandchildren. Bob loved road trips. His career as a charter bus and tractor-trailer driver took him to places he may not have otherwise had an opportunity to see and he forged many friendships along the way. He was always willing to share his stories and experiences from his travels with anyone.
Above all else he enjoyed spending time with his dear friends and family.

He was the loving father of Crystal Hamilton (Jonathan Koretzky), Sarah Handy (Christopher) and Daniel Hunley (Rebecca Ledford) and very proud Pop-Pop to 6 grandchildren: Skyler, Evelyn, Gabriella, Hudson, Elizabeth and Emmalyn; the cherished brother of Robert Hunley Jr. I (Lynn), Ron Hunley (Gail), Kerry Scott, and John Murtha; predeceased by sister Dawn LaFountain (Fred); and beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all.

A graveside burial and memorial service is planned for May 21, 2022 at 1:00pm in Doylestown Cemetery, Doylestown, PA.
