Obituary for Thomas Joseph O'Brien

Thomas (Tommy) J. O’Brien of Allentown, PA passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Allentown, PA. He was 52.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Tommy was the son of the late Thomas E. O’Brien Jr. and Elena (Santoliquito) O’Brien of Gwynedd, PA. He resided in Allentown, Pennsylvania for 15 years.

He was the beloved father of Jacob (age 21), Athena (age 18), and Brynn (age 13) of Allentown, PA; loving brother of Maria Miller and her husband Clark Miller of Landenberg, PA, and Christina Russell and her husband Jeffrey Russell of Blue Bell PA; caring uncle of Alex, Angelina and Ethan Miller, and Ava and Andrew Russell; admired colleague, and cherished friend to many. Tommy’s greatest joy and devotion were to his three children who he tirelessly raised and worked hard to provide for.

A graduate of Drexel University, Tommy was an electrical engineer following in his father’s footsteps as a visionary in audio. Tommy was the proud founder and owner of Digital Amplifier Company where he designed and manufactured high performance audio products for more than 25 years. He was widely known as a top designer of digital amplifiers and was highly respected for his knowledge and innovation in the field.

In his free time he loved listening to music, playing hockey with the Geezer League, watching the Flyers, playing the drums, go-carting, cooking for his children, and spending time with them, pets Pretzel and Pepper, and family.

A viewing will be held for Thomas on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church of Doylestown, PA from 9:00-10:00 a.m., with a funeral mass to begin at 10:00 a.m.

Burial services will be private.
