Obituary for John F. (Jack) Otto, Jr.

John F. (Jack) Otto, Jr. of New Britain Township, Pa. passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, August 7, 2021. He was 89.

Born in Millville, NJ to the late John F. Otto, Sr.. and Loreta (Howard) Otto, Jack resided in Philadelphia, Pa. before moving to New Britain Township 53 years ago.

He was a graduate of North Catholic High School and received an Associate's Degree from Lincoln Technical Institute. Jack was formerly employed as an advertising artist with Moore Products Company of Spring House, Pa. for more than 30 years before retirement. He also served 16 years in the Naval Reserve.

At the beginning of retirement he worked two summers at the boat rental at Lake Galena and entertained at Nursing Homes with piano and singing. Gifted with perfect pitch, he could tune a piano by ear and change keys to accompany anyone who might be off key. He studied drums with Paul Patterson in Philadelphia. He loved percussion and over the years he played the congas in various groups and church bands.

While growing up Jack spent summers at the Jersey shore. He enjoyed life fully. He snorkeled, built and flew model airplanes, fished, did Judo, skied, sailed, taught beginning sailing, passed advanced life saving swimming, and loved driving his Sunbeam Alpine sports car. HIs paintings and drawings were remarkable. He was an avid Phila. Flyers fan..

Jack was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship in Harleysville and appreciated friendships and worshiping with that community.

He was the beloved husband of 54 years to Mary-Beth (Hughes) Otto; devoted father of John Otto and wife, Karen; Christine Otto, and the late William Hugh Otto ( who is survived by his wife Sonja); dear brother of the late Loretta Cartin; loving grandfather of Sarah, Jessie, Amber, Christian, Hannah, Macy and Dax; and he was proud to be a great-grandfather. Also he was appreciative to have several nieces, nephews..

Always a good listener. Jack was a friend to many including Pam Graboyes, with whom he shared a special bond and love for percussion instruments, He will be remembered by many with good thoughts and prayers.
