Obituary for Peter W. Brunner

Peter W. Brunner of Telford, PA passed away at his residence on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. He was 75.

Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late William and Vera (Larson) Brunner, Peter resided in Jamison, PA before moving to Telford, PA 5 years ago.

Peter graduated from Abington High School and was formerly employed as a Millwright with the Philadelphia-based United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local 1906 in various capacities for several companies. He was a US Naval Veteran and served as a Hospital Corpsman during the Vietnam War.

Peter was passionate about historic preservation in Bucks County, PA. He served in a number of leadership roles for several local historical organizations including as past president of the Craven Hall Historical Society, Warwick Township Historic Commission, and Warminster Township Historic Preservation Board; founding member and past vice president of the William Tennent House Association and the Warwick Township Historical Society. He participated in many associated historic surveying, districting, research, restoration and archaeological projects. He is most notably linked to the saving of the Historic Moland House in Warwick Township. He was also an avid collector of Bucks County historic memorabilia.

He was a past president of the Centennial Kiwanis Club and a past vice president of the Suburban Bucks Jaycees, and received numerous awards for coordinating many charitable events with both organizations in Warminster Township.

He was the life partner of Sybil Johnson; devoted father of Sandra VanDorick and husband Michael; Patty Thurman and husband Jeffrey; Kimberly Speer and husband Mark; loving grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Saturday, June 26th from 1:00-3:00 pm with a service to begin at 2:30 pm.
