Obituary for Suzanne P. Simpson
On January 7, 2021, heaven welcomed a new angel. Suzanne Jean Parker Simpson, of Dublin,
PA, passed away at her home on January 7, 2020. She was 87. Suzanne transitioned peacefully
surrounded by her children who loved her unconditionally.
Suzanne was welcomed into this world on March 19 th , 1933 on St. Joseph’s Day. She was the
loving daughter of the late William J. Parker, Sr. and Eleanor (Joyce) Parker. She grew up in a
loving home in South Philadelphia shared with her parents and her beloved sisters, Joy and
Edie, and her brother, Bill. One of her favorite memories was going for walks with “Daddy” and
her beloved dog, Honey. She also loved the yearly tradition of gathering in her parents’ home
on New Year’s Day after attending the Philadelphia Mummers Parade. Suzanne resided in
Doylestown, PA, prior to moving to Dublin, PA six years ago. She shared her home with her
devoted daughter, Eleanor, who lovingly cared for her through her final days on earth.
Suzanne married Roy Simpson (deceased), and they had three children together (Suzanne, Bill
and Eleanor). Even though she and Roy divorced after 25 years of marriage, they remained dear
friends. In fact, Suzanne selflessly took care of Roy in his later years. She didn’t want him to be
alone so she opened her home to him.
The central focus of Suzanne’s life was always her children, her grandchildren and her great-
grandchildren. And she meant the world to her family. Suzanne, our dearest mother, walked
through this word emanating a beauty, kindness and a goodness the likes of few that we’ve
ever known. She defied age and with each passing decade she grew more beautiful. There were
a couple of movie stars she made us think of in different stages of her life. You could not help to
be proud that she was our family matriarch as well as our dearest friend.
There was something more, like many of the mothers of our closest friends and relatives, she
had that unwavering inner goodness and kindness that you knew that you could always count
on and find shelter. So much so, that you couldn’t help but conclude that even if there were
only a few more people like her in this world, there would be more goodness than darkness.
Her goodness resonated in her children in a way that we never wanted to let her down. Our
mother, Suzanne was a guiding light and a moral compass. We couldn’t help but draw from her
kindness and compassion, and to this day, we live our lives to keep her proud of us.
Suzanne was a work of precious art and that there is not enough time left in eternity to
weather and wear our love for her. Even in our loss, we can only celebrate her and count
ourselves among the blessed and remain focused on the fullness of the lives she gave us.
Suzanne loved caring for her rescued kitties. She also loved staying connected with her family
and friends through Facebook. She loved seeing photographs of her beautiful grandchildren
and great-grandchildren, her many nieces and nephews and their children. Suzanne also was a
movie lover. Her favorite movies of all time were The Sea Wolf and Gone with the Wind. She
also loved listening to the music of her favorite artists – her son, Bill, also Jeff Buckley, and Il
Volo. And she enjoyed the traditional birthday celebration at the casino with her daughter,
Suzie, who also shared a March birthday.
Suzanne is survived by her loving children, Suzanne Simpson Gonzalez (Manny), William A.
Simpson (Gloria), Eleanor Simpson; her dearest grandchildren, Stephen Gonzalez, Rebecca
Silverman (Alex), Mark Gonzalez (Katelyn), William A. Simpson II (Erin), James Simpson, Vincent
Simpson and Matthew Simpson; her precious great-grandchildren, Emma Suzanne Silverman,
Wesley Silverman, William A. Simpson III, and Joseph Simpson; her cherished siblings, Joyce
Parker Lamb (the late Robert J. Lamb), William J. Parker, Sr. (Annie), and Edith Parker Kerrigan;
as well as many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Suzanne also leaves
behind many loving friends whom she considered family.
Mom (“Gram” or “Grammis” to her grandchildren), we will miss you terribly. We will always
love you, and you will always be with us in our hearts. You gave us that we need to continue
through this world. Until we are together again...
