Obituary for Anthony "Tony" M. Catanzaro

Anthony “Tony” M. Catanzaro of Newtown, PA passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020 in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Newtown, PA. He was 67.

Born in Brooklyn, NY to Flora (Fauci) Catanzaro and the late Ignazio Catanzaro, Tony resided in Brooklyn, NY before moving to Newtown, PA 29 years ago.

He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brooklyn College, Master of Urban Planning from Brooklyn College, and a Master of Public Administration from NYU. He was formerly employed as a Senior Disability Specialist with the NY State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance for 33 years, before retiring in 2010. Tony was a survivor of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.

He was a longtime member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Washington Crossing. He enjoyed mosaic crafts, watercolor painting, gardening, classical and rock music, cooking fish and seafood dishes, and hiking.

He is the beloved husband of 41 years to Shelley (Donefsky) Catanzaro; devoted father of Julie Lentes and husband Brian; loving grandfather of Colin and Maggie Lentes.

A celebration of Tony’s life will be held in Tyler State Park, where he loved to hike everyday.
