Obituary for Alessandro M. Codagnone

Alessandro M. Codagnone, recently of Kintnersville, PA and formally of NYC, was born in Milan, Italy August 2, 1967. He died June 18, 2019, aged 51 after a 9 month bout with Lung Cancer. He bravely battled his disease with support of the doctors and nurses at Memorial Sloan Kettering and ended his struggle at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Artist, forever activist, and fierce critic, Alessandro has been partnered with his spouse Randy Wissel since 2008. He was the loving son of Sandro (deceased) and Carla (Marsili) Codagnone, brother to Cristiano and uncle to Jaime, Eduardo and Enrique. He was affectionate friend to John Lovett and also adoring dad to his three poodles Leo, Bruno and Charlie with whom he will be remembered gamboling in the streams near his home.

Alessandro was schooled at University of London Goldsmiths before coming to the US to join the Whitney program in NYC. He was active with his business partner and in Lovett/Codagnone where he was engaged in various exhibits and performances throughout his career. Alessandro spent his recent years teaching at More College and was also founding member and performer in Candidate, Inc. He was proprietor at Bucks Lodge, a unique antique store where he lived in Pennsylvania.

Across his dynamic career he has exhibited in numerous galleries within the US, Germany and Italy mixing performance and art. He is currently being exhibited in Sicily, Italy.
