Obituary for Christina Marie DeQuila
Christina Marie DeQuila, 35, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Christina was the cherished daughter of Donna and Joseph DeQuila of Furlong, PA, the loving sister of Jenna and Scott Masaitis of Hoboken, NJ, and granddaughter of Jeanne DeQuila and the late Vincent DeQuila of Tinton Falls, NJ. She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Carol and Raymond Marone, formally of Flemington, NJ.
Christina was born in Staten Island, NY, and moved to Flemington, NJ as a young child. She spent her childhood playing with neighbors in Sun Ridge, taking memorable family vacations, and swimming in Lake George. She was a 2002 graduate of Hunterdon Central Regional High School where she played volleyball and ran track.
She graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2006, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Shortly after graduation, she ventured out to Las Vegas, NV working at South Central Sound Muzak before returning to Manhattan, NY and eventually Hoboken, NJ, securing medical device sales positions with Karl Storz Endoscopy and Novo Surgical, Inc.
Christina loved animals, especially her Yorkshire Terrier, Viva, as well as her mixed-breed rescue, Pandora. She also enjoyed sports, loved to snowboard, and was an avid NY Yankees and NY Giants fan.
Christina is survived by her nieces, Merritt Carol, Catherine and Grace Masaitis, Aunts and Uncles: Richard Kalriess and the late Sandra Kalriess, Greg and Pat Marone, Joe and Peggy Libretti, Denise and Frank Trivento, Diane and Alex Sutera, Jeanie and Jim Higgins, Glenn and Yenny Marone. Christina will also be dearly missed by her many cousins.
Christina always bravely shared her suffering from the terrible disease of depression and anxiety. Although she was struggling so deeply herself, she dedicated her time to helping others going through similar struggles through online communities. Although Christina did not choose to end her life, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention was a charity whose mission meant a lot to her.
