Obituary for Maureen T. Wright

Maureen T. Wright of Doylestown, PA and Manahawkin, NJ passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 with her family by her side. She was 93.

Born in Southampton, England Maureen emigrated to the United States in 1946. She was a resident of Manahawkin (Beach Haven West), NJ for 45 years, before moving to the Doylestown area 5 years ago.

Maureen was a British Red Cross Society Nurse during World War II and later a Registered Nurse in the United States working in medical offices for 30 years, prior to retirement. She was a former member of St. Mary’s of the Pines Church Manahawkin, NJ; Pieceful Shores Quilting; the Red Hat Society; and Medical Assistants Society.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Bender and Edwin “Ned” Wright; dear sister of the late Jack, Edgar and Patrick Smith of England.

To Maureen, everyone else’s needs came first. Always happy, she loved music, dancing, reading, playing board games, happy hour and reciting rhymes. Throughout her life Maureen traveled extensively throughout the world sharing her love and kindness, making friends wherever she went.

As a loving mother, Maureen was preceded in death by her daughter Helen Bender Martinez, and is survived by her sons Edward Bender and John Bender (Lorraine); loving grandmother to Jennifer, Suzanne, Sara, Tim, John, Matt, CJ and Tess; also survived by six great-grandchildren.

A Viewing will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Thursday, January 25th from 10:00-11:00 am, followed by a Mass at 11:00 am.

Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 283 Beachview Avenue, Manahawkin, NJ 08050 on Friday, January 26th at 11:00 am.
