Obituary for Eamon "Ned" Dugery

Eamon “Ned” Dugery of Philadelphia, PA passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 surrounded by family after a long and courageous battle against a metastatic brain tumor. He was 52.

Born in Huntington Valley, PA Ned grew up in Doylestown and graduated from CB East. He attended West Chester University, where he earned a BA in International Relations.

Prior to his illness, he was employed as a Project Manager supporting Green Energy initiatives in the public and private sectors and was an instructor in Building Technology and Weatherization Programs at Bucks County Community College. Ned enjoyed camping, fishing, reading, music and art and was an avid fan of the Grateful Dead and Eagles Football. He had a quick wit, a great sense of humor and could engage on any topic. He had a generous nature and was always there to help friends and family with home repairs and projects. He rescued his English Bulldog, Meatball, who provided loving support during his illness. He was longtime AA member and volunteered his time to MANNA and Project HOME in Philadelphia. He loved the city, where he lived for 23 years and took great pride in his home, tending to his garden and helping neighbors on Franklin Street.

He was the beloved son of Joan (Peppelman) Clougherty and husband Alfred and Edward Dugery and wife Joan; dear brother of Julia Dugery and husband Gus Searles, Andrea Dugery Liu and Paul Liu, Lani Hunter and husband Bob, Michael Dugery and wife Lisa and Jeanne Dugery; loving uncle of Andrew, Conor and Leslie Searles; Dylan, Julia and David Liu; Beau, Kyle and Taylor Hunter; Megan, Evan and Jack Dugery; also survived by a large clan of aunts, uncles and cousins and many friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Monday, January 15th from 7:00-9:00 pm.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Tuesday, January 16th at 11:00 am. The family will receive their friends from 10:00-11:00 am prior to mass at church.
