Obituary for Palma E. "Pam" Novello

Palma “Pam” (Fiore) Novello passed away September 1, 2017, at The Bridges at Warwick Memory Care & Senior Living Center in Jamison, PA. She was 81.

Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, Pam had been a resident of Toms River, NJ for more than 20 years, after relocating from Secaucus, NJ.

In addition to devoting her time to raising her children and supporting her family, Pam worked as a beautician at her husband’s salon, Joseph’s Beauty Salon, in Jersey City, NJ, as well as the Lutheran Home for Adults in Jersey, City, NJ and at Meadowview Hospital in Secaucus, NJ.

When she lived in Secaucus, she also volunteered at her church, Immaculate Conception Church, and, more recently, was also a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Parish in Toms, River, NJ.

Pam was an avid cook and took pleasure in hosting holiday meals for her entire family. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, and “driving everywhere” in her Cadillac. She was a fiercely independent woman, who managed all of her own affairs and continued to work into her 80’s, doing hair and bringing sweets to residents of the nursing homes.

Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Massimo and Lena (Bini) Fiore; her devoted husband of 26 years, Joseph Novello; her son, Joseph A. Novello of Hollywood, FL; and her sisters Tess Terminiello (Hoboken, NJ) and Marie Gagliano of Belford, NJ.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Robin Novello of Buckingham, PA, her grandchildren Danielle Novello (Parkland, FL) and Adriana Novello (Buckingham, PA), her dear sister Elvira “Vera” Mahoney, and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Although the burial was held privately, a mass and Celebration of Life ceremony is being planned in the coming months.

In lieu of flowers/sympathy gifts, memorials in Pam’s name may be made to assist the victims of Hurricane Harvey by visiting the Samaritan’s Purse website (www.samaritanspurse.org) and clicking on the Hurricane Harvey relief site.
