Obituary for Patricia T. Varcoe

BUCKINGHAM SPRINGS, NEW HOPE, PA, & BARNEGAT, NJ - Patricia T. Varcoe of Buckingham Springs, New Hope, PA and Barnegat, NJ, formerly of Doylestown passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. She was the wife of Wilson G. Varcoe for 53 years.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late W. Harry and Polly Heritage Taylor. Patricia was raised in Lower Makefield and was a graduate of Pennsbury High School class of 1952 and Dickinson College class of 1956. Following her graduation she taught Latin at Pennsbury. The bulk of her teaching career was spent at Central Bucks West and East, where she taught Latin and English. Patricia was a member of PSERS and formerly the CBEA; past President of The Doylestown Junior Women's Club and a past Village Fair Chairwoman; past Matron of Doylestown Chapter #327, Order of the Eastern Star and a past District Deputy. She was also Sessions Chairwoman for the Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania in 1991-92 and a past Grand Representative to Virginia. Patricia was a 50 year member of the Doylestown United Methodist Church and one of the early originators of the annual Peach Festival Flea Market for the church.

Patricia and her husband loved to travel, visiting all 50 states and many foreign countries. She loved spending her summers at her shore house with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons: W. Scott Varcoe and wife Jennifer, Philip T. Varcoe and wife Kelly all of Pipersville, grandchildren, Jessica K. and Brittany T. Varcoe of Doylestown, William F. and Zachary L. Varcoe of Pipersville. She was preceded in death by her twin sister Phyllis T. Devlin.

A service will be held at the Doylestown United Methodist Church, 320 East Swamp Road on Saturday, August 13th at 11 am.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA on Friday, August 12th from 7-9 pm. Eastern Star services will be held at 8 pm. Visitation will also occur on Saturday, August 13th from 10-11 am at the church prior to services.

Interment will be held in Mechanicsville Cemetery, Mechanicsville, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in Patricia's memory to the Doylestown United Methodist Church.
