Obituary for Francis J. "Frank" Hoban

Francis J. Hoban “Frank” of Doylestown, PA passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in Doylestown, PA. He was 88 years old.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, on June 7, 1929 to the late Patrick and Sara (McGuckin) Hoban, Frank resided in Warrington, PA, before moving to Doylestown in 1972.

Frank received his Bachelor Degree from LaSalle University and a Masters of Education Degree from Temple University. He later did his post graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania. Frank was formerly employed as a teacher and Principal with Northeast High School of Philadelphia for 40 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Parish Council of Doylestown; a 1st Lieutenant and served in the US Army during the Korean War and retired as a Captain in the reserves; Former President for the Education Alumni of LaSalle University; Frank enjoyed reading, was active with community participation, Catholic Educational Programs, Boy Scouts of America, State Street Players, and spending time with his family and many dear friends.

He was the beloved husband of 59 years to the late Catherine M. Hoban, devoted father of Kathleen Brehm and husband Edward, Patricia Hoban, Esq., Francis P. Hoban, Joseph Hoban, Thomas L. Hoban, Joan Carney and husband Kevin, James Hoban and wife Andrea; dear brother of the late Geraldine Hoban; loving grandfather of Eric, Kevin and Alyse Brehm, Kristen and James Enright, Sarah, Jeremy and Jordan Hoban, Daniel, Sean, Brigid and Brendan Hoban, Hoban Carney, Roarke and Serianna Hoban, cherished great-grandfather of Jaiden, Ethan and Danielle Hoban, Juniper and Cedar Brehm.

Visitation will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Sunday, March 4th from 6:00-8:00 pm and Monday, March 5th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 from 9:30-10:30 am with a mass to follow at 10:30 am.

Interment will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA.
