Condolences

Condolence From: Peter Mackay
Condolence: Charles had a large and diverse audience for his literary work. Here in Australia, his novel, his poetry book, and many of his science fiction stories have places of honour on my bookshelf. As a member of the Gunroom of HMS Surprise, I relished his contributions. His tales of daily life, his stories of his time in the Navy, and later in the merchant marine, and his observations on every topic under the sun, but particularly those of a literary nature, were all entertaining, informative, and full of love for the reader. He thought about his contributions, and I miss him dearly. I never met him in the flesh, so the loss must be all the more deeply felt by friends and family. My condolences to those who knew him best; though no words or thoughts can possibly fill the hole left in your hearts. Charlezzzzz, I salute your life, your service, your community. In due course we will sail again together.
