John G. Auerbach of Furlong, PA passed away in Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA on Sunday, December 17, 2017. He was 74.

Born in Minneola, NY, John resided in Long Island, New York before moving to Furlong, PA forty-three years ago.

He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from the Pratt Institute of Brooklyn, NY and worked as an Electrical Engineer for the Naval Yard in Brooklyn, NY and later with the Naval Air Development Center (NADC) of Johnsville for 35 years. John also worked as a network engineer with the Allentown School District for 10 years after his retirement from NADC.

His grandchildren were his pride and joy and always made sure they knew how much he loved them. When not with his grandchildren, he enjoyed traveling, reading, and especially his corvettes, both driving and showing them. He was an avid runner for years, completing multiple marathons and accrued quite the collection of race shirts. Following a successful running career, he discovered his love for cycling and navigating the roads of Bucks County by bike. John was clearly dedicated to all his endeavors in life and inspired those around him to do the same.

He was the beloved husband of 49 years to Lee (Wegener) Auerbach; devoted father of Scott (Jennifer) Auerbach, Ingrid Auerbach, and Erica (Alexander) Wood; dear brother of Patricia Banner and the late Arlene Milligan; loving grandfather of Benjamin and Mason Auerbach, Abigail and Emma Wood; loving brother-in-law of Butch (Diane) Wegener; survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Saturday, December 23rd at 10:00 am. Friends and family will be received from 9:00-10:00 am at the funeral home prior to service.

Private cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in John’s name.
