Obituary for Arthur Burger Sr.

Arthur Burger Sr.
Arthur P. Burger, Sr. (known to his family as "Burger King") of Doylestown, PA passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2017 in the Wesley Enhanced Living Center, Doylestown, PA. He was 99.

Born in Buffalo, NY to the late George and Dessa (Detrick) Burger, Art moved with his parents from the family's farm in Springville, NY to PA when he was 17. He resided in Warrington before moving to Doylestown 50 years ago.

Art was employed as a tool and dye maker and custom machine builder for many years before his retirement at age 83. During WW II he was employed in the defense industry. Art enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and especially spending time with family.

He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Bradley) Burger, devoted father to Arthur Burger, Jr. (Barbara) and Bradley Burger; loving grandfather of Paul Burger (Laura), David Burger (Susan), Kelli Flok (Robert); cherished great grandfather of Ashley, Ryan, and Alexandra Burger; dear brother of the late Ruth Wisler, Raymond and John Burger. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown PA 18901 on Saturday, November 25th from 10:30 to 11:30 am with service to follow at the funeral home.

Interment for Art and his wife, Helen, will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Friends of the Borough Dam, 57 W. Court Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 would be appreciated.

Art's family extends gratitude to the health care teams at Tohickon Internal Medicine, Doylestown Hospital, Pine Run Community (Rehab), Health Quality Partners, Wesley Enhanced Living Center (second floor personal care unit), and Hospice (Doylestown Hospital) who provided care and kindness.
