The Animal Book
As children, my sister Kathy and my brother Stan had many happy memories. Back then, you used your imagination and didn't have electronics to keep you occupied. We made "mud pies", put on a show in the garage for the neighbors, played with those green army guys in the grass and explored in the woods.
One of my favorite memories was of the animal book. It was a book filled with pictures and descriptions of different animals. We would close our eyes and open to a page and point-and that was the animal you became. After the 3 of us picked out what animal we were, we would crawl along the walls of the bedrooms upstairs pretending to be the animal you picked and go from room to room, staying as close to the wall as you can.
If you were lucky, you picked the tiger or the gorilla-but NO ONE WANTED THE ANT-EATER OR THE AARDVARK_ -we would laugh when we saw one of us picked the aardvark haninging in the tree or the anteater that looked like it was slurping up the ants.
We would then continue, still laughing at the one who had to imitate the ant-eater or the aardvark, whille the others proudly represented the other animals. It was one of those things we made up as children (pretty sure it was Kathy's idea) that I will always cherish.
