Obituary for Archie Lester Young

Archie Lester Young of Quakertown, PA passed away at his residence on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. He was 79.

Born in Hyden, KY to the late Arnold and Zona (West) Young, Archie resided in Ewing, NJ for 40 years, before moving to Quakertown, PA.

He was formerly employed as a Truck Driver throughout his career and continued to drive for Richard T. Barrett Paving Company out of Trenton, NJ when semi-retired. He was a US Army Veteran serving from 1957 to 1962 during the Vietnam Era with the 3rd Armor Division stationed overseas in Friedberg, Germany.

He was the devoted father of Duane Young (and late wife Carol), Patricia (Jimmy) Bernsteel, Cynthia (Scott) Strecker, Randy (Linndy) Young, and Gwynette (Revy) Young; former husband of El Frieda Young; dear brother of the late Stanley Young; also survived by five grandchildren, Tammi Mancuso, Lacey Mancuso, Mellissa Young, John Murphy, Jr. and Maximilian Strecker and six great-grandchildren, Baron, Brayden, Zana, Jolie, Jake and Tristan.

Archie was by trade a welder, black smith, metal worker and an over-the-road truck driver who traveled to all the lower 48 states; hobbies included being an avid shade tree mechanic, riding motorcycles, boating, and enjoying a cocktail or two while listening to Willie Nelson and the Rolling Stones.

Private cremation services were under the direction of the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home/Central Bucks Crematory, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.
