Obituary for Leroy Earl Roberts

Leroy Earl Roberts of Rockwood, Pa. passed away in Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, PA on Tuesday, January 17, 2017. He was 88.

Born in Waynesburg, PA to the late D. Herman and Ursal (Glass) Roberts, Leroy was a resident of Rockwood, PA since 1953, before moving to Quakertown, PA six months ago.

He was a US Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. Upon discharge he was employed with Texas Eastern Gas Company, from which he retired. Leroy was a longtime member of the Calvary United Methodist Church of Somerset, PA; a former Boy Scout Council Leader; a member of the Sugar Bush Antique and Classic Car Club; a volunteer with Meals on Wheels of Somerset, PA and was involved with the Casselman River Watershed Association, and Rails to Trails.

He was married to his beloved wife, Kay for 57 years. He was also devoted father of Karen Roberts and companion Milan Kralik, Jr., John Roberts and wife Karen; loving grandfather of Nicole Oberreuter-Rodi and Brian Oberreuter; great-grandfather of Nathan Oberreuter-Rodi, Jonte Oberreuter-Valentine and Madison Mendoza. He is also survived by his friend, Jane Morgan, of Salisbury, PA.

He was especially fond of family reunions and picnics with his extended family of inlaws. He loved his children, neighbors, and all his friends at church. He was proud of his home and loved keeping the lawn beautiful.

Cremation services were private under the direction of the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.

A memorial service will be held in the Spring at Calvary United Methodist Church in Somerset, PA.
