Obituary for Charles C. Lombardi

Charles C. Lombardi, Sr., age 85, passed away on Thursday morning, November 3, 2016 at Twining Village in Holland, PA.

Born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, Charlie graduated Thomas Jefferson High School in 1949. Charlie had such a love for his country that he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served proudly. He was a decorated Korean War Veteran and never forgot those who didn’t make it home. He worked many years for the A & P Co. until his retirement in 1985.

Charlie was a dedicated family man. He has resided in Texas, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and New Jersey at various times in his life, moving to be where his family needed him most. He will be remembered for the stories that he shared about his growing up in Peterstown, his service during the army, and the many unique things he did to support the family he loved. Charlie was an avid reader who was able to continue that love after losing his sight by listening for hours to books on tape.

Charlie was predeceased by his wife Betty, his childhood sweetheart of 62 years, his parents, Charles A. and Angelina (Caruso) Lombardi, his sister Lucille (Lombardi) Saraceno, his son, Charles Lombardi, Jr., and his two son-in-laws, John Parrinello and Raymond Barry.

He is survived by his five daughters, Jacqueline Cobilla of Old Bridge, N.J., Sheryl Comeau of Dayton, N.J., Angela Barry of Doylestown, PA, Donna Parrinello of Dayton, N.J. and Patricia O’Connor of South River, N.J., his son-in-laws, 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Viewing hours are from 10:00 am to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown PA 18902. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30am, followed by private cremation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charlie’s memory to National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Attn: Office of the Director, 1291 Taylor Street NW, Washington, DC, 20542 or https://www.loc.gov/nls/donate.html
