Obituary for William H. "Bill" Houghton II

William “Bill” H. Houghton, II of Doylestown, PA passed away at his residence on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. He was 79.

Born in Oakmont, PA, Bill resided in Chalfont before moving to Doylestown 50 years ago. He was a graduate of Central Bucks High School and also attended Ursinus College.

Bill was formerly employed with the US Postal Service in Doylestown and retired in 1992 after 31 years of service. He was also a US Army Veteran, earning the Expert Award for marksmanship. Bill enjoyed music, classic movies, chess, and tennis, and loved playing all types of sports and games with his children and grandchildren. It was on the tennis court where he first met his wife.

Bill was the beloved husband of 50 years to Cynthia (Conro) Houghton; devoted father of Bill Houghton and wife Deborah, Jim Houghton and wife Michele, John Houghton and wife Heather, Shelly Henning and husband Michael; dear brother of Eleanor Shaffer; and loving grandfather of William, Jack, Laura, Ryan, Sydney, Emily, Hayley, Hannah and Reagan. He was preceded in death by his father William W. Houghton, mother Edna (Thurston), and sister Margaret.

Funeral services were held privately.
