Benjamin H. Conklin of Warminster, PA passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 in Doylestown Hospital, Doylestown, PA. He was 94.
Born in Highland Mills, NY to the late Benjamin and Susie Carroll Conklin, Ben resided in Allendale, NJ and Sebring, FL before moving to Warminster in 2007.
Ben enlisted in the Army Air Corp. after the attack on Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941. He served as a flight instructor and fighter pilot in the European Theater of Operations during World War II and was discharged at the rank of Captain in February 1946. Ben received the Air Medal; European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal; WW II Victory Medal; American Campaign Medal; European Theater of Operations Ribbon; and three Battle Stars.
He flew as a pilot and Captain for United Airlines from 1952-1982, flying from three NY area airports and flew as Captain on the DC-6/7 and Boeing 727 aircraft. He was a member of the Charles A. Lindbergh Memorial Society; Retired United Airlines Pilots Association; and former member of the Guardian Angel Church in Allendale, NJ. An avid golfer, Ben was twice Senior Champion at the Central Valley Golf Club in Central Valle, NY.
He was the beloved husband of 73 years to Rose M. Conklin who recently passed on May 18th; devoted father of Benjamin H. Conklin, Jr. and wife Teri, Susan Marie Conklin and husband Benjamin Perchik; dear brother of Walter Mitton, Rodney Mitton, and the late Florence Lauber, Catherine Cichoski and Audrey Bond; loving grandfather of Tiffany D. and Richard B. Conklin; he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at Church of St. Patrick, 448 Route 32, Highland Mills, NY 10930 on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 12 Noon.
Interment with military honors will follow in Cemetery of the Highlands, Highland Mills, NY.
