NEW HOPE, PENNSYLVANIA - Hugh Elberson Phares, a resident of New Hope, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at the Golden Living Center, in Doylestown, PA. He was 86.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, in 1925, he was the son of the late Margaret and Frank Phares. A World War II veteran, Hugh served in the U.S. Navy as a Torpedoman First Class on the U.S.S. Earle. After the war, he met his wife, Patricia, while they attended the Art Career School (NYC) and Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts (Newark, NJ) They married shortly thereafter on June 5, 1948, in Highland Park, NJ.
Hugh started his own advertising agency, Techni-Graphic, Inc., which later came to be known as TG Communications, Inc.. He successfully ran TG Communications, Inc. until his retirement in 2009.
Hugh was a gifted artist, an innovative businessman, and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an avid lover of nature, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spent a number of years raising goats and tending an ever-expanding apiary.
Hugh is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Patricia, devoted father of Marc C. Phares and wife, Diane, Rand S. Phares and wife Kathy Lee, and Holly Phares, dear brother of the late Elizabeth Bell and Polly Piscitelli, loving grandfather of Craig K. Phares, Meredith A. Phares, Steven C. Phares, and Andrea C. Phares, and cherished great-grandfather of Rhett Phares and Siobhan Phares.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 6587 Upper York Road, Solebury, PA 18963 on Saturday, Nov. 17th at 1 p.m.. Interment will be held in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA, 18940, at a later date.
