Obituary for Hedwig M. Voltz

QUAKERTOWN & DOYLESTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA - Hedwig M. Voltz of Quakertown, PA passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2012 in the Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown, PA. She was 90 years old.

Born in Gmunden, Austria, Hedwig immigrated to the United States in 1948 settling in Philadelphia, PA. Mrs. Voltz resided in Doylestown, PA since 1959 and later moved to Quakertown, PA in 2008.

Hedwig was a graduate of Temple University in Philadelphia and received a Bachelor of Science and Master s Degree in Education. She also received her Teaching Certification in French and German languages. Mrs. Voltz was formerly employed as a German Teacher with the Central Bucks School System and taught at the Central Bucks West High School for 29 years, retiring in 1987. She was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church of Doylestown and the church choir; was a volunteer with the church choir and sang in local nursing homes; provided translations for the Mercer Museum and translated obituaries from German into English; was a former member of the Bucks County Choral Society; and Hedwig was a giving person who donated to various charities.

She was the beloved wife of the late William M. Voltz, devoted mother of Loretta Kuehn and husband Lloyd of Quakertown and the late Linda M. Kocher, dear sister of Dr. Irmgaard Seguy, loving grandmother of Erica Fetterolf, Michael Janiszewski and Sean Finnegan, cherished great-grandmother of Greta, Aidan and Blake.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 10-11 am with a service to begin at 11 am.

Interment of cremains will follow in St. Mary s Cemetery, Doylestown, PA.

Cremation services were private.
