Obituary for Carol Spuck Vierath

BUCKINGHAM, PENNSYLVANIA - Who would rather be sailing on Martha' s Vineyard, died on Thursday October 24, 2013.

She was the daughter of the late Conrad and Marjorie Spuck. A graduate of Vermont College for Women and the State University NY at Albany receiving her MBA, she worked as a Physician s Assistant for 13 years. In 1978, she jumped into real estate where she found her true vocation. Always believing that she found a job that wasn t work . She loved the real estate business, the agents, the managers and RealtyUSA. She attained success and respect, not only at RUSA where she was a Senior Vice President, but throughout the industry. She was the first woman to recieve the CCIM Designation in NYS, she spoke at the NAR convention in Honolulu, and was named Realtor of the year in 1992.

Carol was a dynamic woman who met challenges with energy and determination. One of her proudest moments was overcoming her fear of heights by skydiving. She believed in sharing her talents and good fortune with others. Her volunteer work began early, tagging along with her mother to the Clinton Square Neighbor House, Meals on Wheels and driving for the American Red Cross. She created a program of giving Hurry Home Bears for seriously ill children hospitalized at Albany Medical and was chair of Albany County Board of Realtors first annual Monopoly Tournament to raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation. She managed the Miss Softball American Colonie Team to the New York State championship in 1976 and 1977.

She is survived by her devoted husband Douglas R. Vierath, her daughter Deana Corrigan (Tom); sons, Marc Micare (Laurie), and Jason Micare, step daughter Kathryn Mazio (Mario), sisters Donna Frueh (Peter), Ruth and brother s Paul and Robert. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Mathew, Kyle, Nicholas, Anthony, Miranda, Mariah & Marius. Her children and grandchildren brought great joy into her life, and after retirement she was never happier than when she was spending time with them playing board games, poker, baking together, creating jewelry, or watching movies together that she knew her grandchildren shouldn t be watching.

She felt she had an amazing life, full of the best that life had to offer with a warm, close family and many friends. She was grateful to have had Dottie Merza, Ann MacAffer, Ann Manning, Don Ellett, Judy Terry, Chris Schmidt, and Connie FitzGerald as friends and colleagues.

Her family rallied around and shared joyful experiences during the last years of her life including trips to her favorite casinos, Martha' s Vineyard and an Alaskan Cruise.

During those later years, she also established a successful E-bay business. She enjoyed going to live auctions, HDR photography and creating culinary concoctions. She loved Starbucks coffee, but most of all she loved her husband and children fiercely, and they loved her back the same way.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation in Carol s name to Hope Club (formally Gilda 's), 1 Penny Lane, Latham NY 12110 or to Breastcancer.org.

Family and friends are invited to raise a glass and share a bite in Celebration of Carol' s Life at the Shaker Ridge Country Club, 802 Albany-Shaker Rd, Loudonville NY on November 15th 4:00-8:00 pm. A Tribute to Carol will begin at 6:00 pm.
