Obituary for James A. O'Brien

DOYLESTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA - James A. O' Brien of Doylestown, PA passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 in the Buckingham Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was 98.

Born in Dublin, Ireland, James immigrated to the United States in 1964, settling in New York. He resided in Doylestown, PA since 1997 and was a former resident of Dublin, PA since 1966.

James was formerly employed with Keenan Automotive Mercedes/Bentley/Jaguar of Philadelphia, PA for 25 years, retiring in 1986. He was previously employed as a factory representative with Daimler Benz of Ireland, before coming to the United States. James was active with the Bucks County Horse Park, Groveland Meadows in Pipersville, and avid enthusiast of automobiles, horses and photography. He was also a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church of Doylestown.

He is the beloved husband of the late Nuala (MacDonagh) O Brien, devoted father of John O Brien and wife Sue of Warminster, William O Brien and wife Maryellen of Buckingham, dear brother of Eileen Graham of Ireland, loving grandfather of Michael, David and Maura O Brien, cherished great-grandfather of Jordyn and Dylan O Brien.

A visitation will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Thursday, July 10th from 9:00-10:30 am.

A funeral mass will follow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 E. State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Thursday, July 10th at 11 am.

Interment will be held in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in James' memory to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church or Mass cards would be appreciated.
