Obituary for Johanna E. Vasey

BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, PENNSYLVANIA - Johanna E. Vasey of Buckingham Township, Pa. passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 in Neshaminy Manor, Warrington, Pa.

She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph C. Vasey for 31 years until his death in 1979.

Johanna was born in Gera, Germany on November 30, 1923. She immigrated to the United States in 1924 at the age of 9 months with her mother to Ellis Island meeting her father who immigrated one year earlier. She was the loving daughter of Klara Pfiefer and Curt William Traumuller who started Traumuller s Nursery of Doylestown. The family settled in Willow Grove, Pa. and then moved to Doylestown in 1925.

Johanna was a 1941 graduate of Doylestown High School. She pursued a career in nursing, completing her schooling at Lankenau Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. Johanna and Ralph raised seven children in Buckingham on Burnt House Hill Road. In 1980 after the death of her husband she renewed her nursing career and became employed as a registered nurse and supervisor at Neshaminy Manor in Warrington for over 10 years, before retiring in 1989. She found that period one of the most rewarding times of her life. Johanna was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah s Witnesses of Doylestown and it was the inspiration of her life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Johanna was passionate about life, had a wonderful sense of humor and an engaging personality that made a special connection to everyone she met in her lifetime.

She was the devoted mother of Phyllis V. (Harley) Hendricks, Ralph J. (Patty) Vasey, Jeffrey C. Vasey, Richard Q. (Sandy) Vasey, Thomas Q. (Debra) Vasey, Darryl T. (Wendy) Vasey, and the late John C. Vasey (wife Fran surviving), dear sister of Anna Traumuller Samsel, Curt William Traumuller and the late Gloria Traumuller Fleming and Carl F. Traumuller, also survived by seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah s Witnesses, 4583 Landisville Road, Doylestown, PA 18902 on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 2:00 P.M.

Cremation services were private under the direction of Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, Doylestown, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Johanna' s name may be made to Neshaminy Manor, Designate for Gardens at the Manor, 1660 Easton Road, Warrington, PA 18976.
