SOLEBURY TOWNSHIP, PENNSYLVANIA - Esther F. Goss of Solebury Township, PA passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in the Briarleaf Nursing and Convalescent Center, Doylestown, PA. She was 87.
Born in Solebury Township, PA to the late Clifford and Sara Alcott Funk, Esther was a lifelong Solebury resident.
She and her husband, Frank, operated the Lumberville General Store until his death in 1967. Previously she had been employed by Doylestown Hospital. After selling the store she went on to work at the library at the New Hope-Solebury Elementary School, the Solebury Post Office, and spent 40 years as secretary for the Solebury Township Police Department.
Esther was a former member of the Eagle Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and also enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family, and laughing at the foibles of herself and others. She was a member of the former Lumberville United Methodist Church and served several years as volunteer secretary. She served two terms as president of the New Hope-Solebury 8-12 baseball league.
She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Goss, devoted mother of John R. Goss of Solebury, Rev. David G. Goss and wife Laura of Wind Gap, PA, and dear sister of Clifford Bud Funk and wife Betsy of New Hope. Esther was predeceased by her brother John F. Funk and sister Verna Hellings. She was the loving grandmother of Roy E.B. Goss and partner Melissa Fithian, and Daniel C. Goss and wife Tempest. Esther was the cherished aunt of Jeffrey Funk, Kristin Funk Maguire, John Funk, Jr., Susan Green, Richard Hellings, Cheryl Degroot and Debbie Marco. She was predeceased by her niece Paula Plenzick, and nephews Thomas Hellings and Rod Hellings. She is also survived by Lynn Tadej, who loved and cared for her for many years, sister-in-law Joan Funk, brother-in-law James Hellings and 6 great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Tuesday, February 3rd at 12 Noon, officiated by the Rev. David Felker. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 12 Noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Carversville Cemetery, Carversville, PA.
