Obituary for Diego A. Ferrara

WARRINGTON, PENNSYLVANIA - Diego A. Ferrara, of Warrington, PA passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in the Greenleaf Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Doylestown. He was 91.

Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Pasquale and Paulina Crea Ferrara, Diego resided in Warrington, PA for the past 40 years.

He was a retired 1st Sergeant and veteran with the United States Marine Corps enlisting in 1943 and retiring in 1964. Diego served in the South Pacific during World War II, the Philippines and the Korean War during his service. He participated as a demolition man and a Platoon Sergeant at the Landing of Inchon, Korea and continued this duty and participated in six major battles until rotating back to the United States in 1951. Diego was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V for valour and bravery, while in action. During his last two years of military service he served as 1st Sergeant in charge of the Marine detachment aboard the USS Randolph, during the Bay of Pigs invasion and was also involved with the retrieval of Col. John Glenn' s space capsule. Semper Fi

He was the beloved husband of the late Rita Ferrara, devoted father of Diego P. Ferrara and wife Karen, Christina M. John, and Paula C. LaRocque and husband Ed, loving grandfather of Diego A. Ferrara, Angela M. Fayer, Regina R. Ferrara, Katherine A. Rariden, Amy L. Holland, and Megan E. John and also survived by eight great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Avenue, Warrington, PA 18976 on Tuesday, November 3rd from 10:00-11:00 a.m., followed by a mass at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.
