Obituary for Robert R. Jones

DOYLESTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA - Robert R. Jones of Doylestown, PA passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2016 in Neshaminy Manor, Warrington, PA surrounded by his family. He was 85.

Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Richard and Helen (Saxer) Jones, Robert resided in Southampton, PA before moving to Doylestown in 2007.

He was formerly employed as a machinist with Alpha Laval of Warminster for 10 years, before retiring in 2000. Robert coached sports throughout his life and founded the Senior Mens Team in Southampton. He was a former member of the Centennial School Board and also taught softball, baseball and bowling at Centennial High School.

Robert was a US Coast Guard Veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion in Wildwood, NJ; VFW in Florida; Central Bucks Senior Center of Doylestown; TLA (To Live Again) of Warminster; Republican Committee in Bucks County and Philadelphia; and Fore Fathers of the Olney Section of Philadelphia.

Robert was very proud to be able to bowl two perfect 300 games during his lifetime.

He was the beloved husband of 12 years to Patricia (Walsh) Jones and 49 years to Helen (Ghegan) Jones (deceased); devoted father of Carol (Al) Schmidt, Janet (Lou) Mintzer, Shirley Kraus Boothman, Jack (Debbie) Jones and Terri Naulty; loving step-father of Donna (Tom) Minch, Kathleen (Arthur) Reenstra and Claire Simon; dear brother of Doris Moffa (deceased); also survived by thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and four beloved nieces.

Visitation will be held at the Varcoe-Thomas Funeral Home, 344 North Main Street, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Tuesday, May 10th from 6:00-8:00 pm and Wednesday, May 11th from 9:00-11:00 am with a service to begin at 11:00 am.

Interment with military honors will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley, PA.
